No. 3 Seed Southeastern Takes on No. 2 Seed SCAD Savannah in TSC Postseason

LAKELAND, Fla – After enjoying a regular season that has been historic, the No. 20 Southeastern University women’s tennis team is not finished yet. The Fire are set to compete in The Sun Conference Tournament in Brunswick, Ga. for the first time since 2017. SEU enters the tourney as the No. 3 seed and will face No. 2 seed SCAD Savannah in the semifinal.

No. 2 SCAD (10-2, 6-1 TSC) vs. No. 3 Southeastern (16-3, 5-2 TSC)

FIRE FOCUS: The Fire have won a single-season program record 16 matches heading into the conference postseason. Southeastern’s three losses have come to the then No. 2, 10, and 11 ranked teams in the NAIA. SEU holds a .667win percentage in doubles and a .766win percentage in singles’ play. Junior Sharienne Ricardo holds a 13-5 record at the No. 1 singles, while freshman Beatrice Letizia is 15-2 at No. 2. Freshman Priscila Baptista has won 10-straight matches at the No. 4 singles’ position. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has out-totaled opponents 120-28 in games won during that streak.  The duo of Baptista and freshman Mia Dunagan are 12-2 at No. 3 doubles, having won six straight as a unit.

ALL-TIME SERIES

The Fire are seeking their first ever win in their 13th meeting all-time with the Bees of SCAD.

SEU fell to SCAD 7-2 in Lakeland earlier this season.

THE BEES

SCAD Savannah has competed in six-straight Sun Conference Tournament Finals.

The Bees only loss in TSC play this season was an 8-1 defeat by then No. 2 Keiser on February 3.

SCAD holds a .667win percentage in doubles and a .727 singles’ win percentage on the year.

Freshman Priya Sukkanha is 10-1 on the season at No. 1 singles.

For Southeastern, Baptista will have an entertaining match-up, as junior Valerie Droop has won eight-straight at No. 4 singles for the Bees.
