KANSAS CITY, Mo.—When the 40-team NAIA Softball World Series Opening Round field was revealed on Tuesday, Southeastern University was among the participants for the fourth consecutive season.

The Fire will head to Lawrenceville, Ga. for its four-team opening round, hosted by No. 1 ranked Georgia Gwinnett. SEU will face Oregon Tech in its first game on May 14 at noon. The host Grizzlies will take on fourth-seeded Northwestern Ohio in the double-elimination bracket.

Southeastern received the ninth of 10 at-large bids, with the other 30 going to automatic qualifiers from conference tournament and regular season champions.

Last year, Southeastern won two games in the Hattiesburg Bracket of the 2017 NAIA Softball World Series Opening Round. The Fire won the Grand Rapids Bracket, en route to a third-place finish at the 2016 World Series.

The Fire are currently 40-16, and are one of 23 repeat qualifiers for the opening round.
