HARDEEVILLE, S.C.—In the final race before The Sun Conference Championship for the Southeastern University cross country teams, the Fire men placed 21st and the women were seventh at the 12th Annual Sand Shark Invitational.

On the men’s side, the Fire were third among Sun Conference members, posting a team time of 2:24:53.

Freshman Christopher Pinedo was first across the line for SEU in 84th place in a time of 27:56.1, his second-best time of the season. Jordan Gonzalez placed 118th in a time of 28:36, with Billy Adams checking in with a time of 29:08 to place 141st. Luke Kathman was 15 seconds behind in 150th, and Christian Timana rounded out the scoring in 169th in a time of 29:48.

The women posted a time of 1:38:01 as a group, placing two in the top 25 individuals. SCAD Savannah was the top finishing Sun Conference squad, besting the Fire by more than 100 points, and were almost 4:00 faster as a team.

For the fourth time in as many races, freshman Julia Rohm was first through the chute for Southeastern, placing 11th in a time of 18:40. Sophomore Kelsi Ogilvie placed 18th in 19:02. Sophomore Macy Peterson was 55th, finishing the 5,000 meter course in 19:48. Madison Welch was nine seconds back in 62nd, and Jenycha Rivera completed the scoring in 88th place with a season-best time of 20:31.

The Fire return to the course in two weeks at Holloway Park in Lakeland for the conference championship.
