KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Southeastern University women’s soccer team continues to reign as one of top sides in the country. The Fire remained at No. 3 in the latest installment of the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
SEU earned a 6-1 win over Brewton-Parker since the last edition of the national rankings. The Fire have won five-straight since dropping their season-opener to then No. 5 Benedictine, outscoring opponents 19-2 during that stretch.
Senior forward Uchenna Kanu leads the Fire and ranks fifth in the NAIA in goals scored with 12 tallies on the season.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
Fellow Sun Conference member Keiser remained at No. 2 in the poll, while USCB stayed in the pool of receiving votes sides.
The Fire are in action tonight at the SEU Soccer Complex versus the Hope International University Royals. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
