LAKELAND, Fla.- For the second consecutive week, the Southeastern University Track and Field program had two student-athletes earn Sun Conference weekly distinction. Freshman Namiah Simpson was named The Sun Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week while freshman Davonte Vanterpool was named the Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week.
Simpson hit the “A” Standard and posted the top time in the NAIA in the 400 with a time of 55.87. Additionally, she ran a leg of the 4 x 400 relay that posted an “A” Standard time of 3:54.23, which is second in the NAIA. She also posted the top time in The Sun Conference in the 200 at the Bulls Invitational.
Vanterpool won the 110 Hurdles at the NCAA Division I Bulls Invitational and has the No. 2 time in the NAIA in the event. He also ran a leg on the 4 x 400 relay, which finished fourth.
The Fire are back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic in Daytona Beach.
