Five PNW Baseball Players Named to All-GLIAC Teams

HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. — The Purdue University Northwest baseball team had five players represented on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. There was three ball players named to the All-GLIAC Second team and two named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.
Sophomore Kevin McCune (Munster, Ind./Andrean), freshman Ray Hilbrich (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) and sophomore Chad Patrick (Hebron, Ind./Hebron) were all named the second team.

McCune is currently hitting .341 this season as PNW’s primary cleanup batter, with 31 hits, 12 doubles, 15 RBI and owns an on-base percentage of .460. Hilbrich leads the team in hitting while being the team’s No. 3 hitter most of the season, with a .355 batting average, 55 hits, 26 runs scored, three triples, two home runs, 71 total bases and 25 RBI.
Patrick owns a 4-4 record on the mound with a 3.27 ERA as the No. 2 starter for the Pride. The sophomore right hander has thrown 55 innings this season with six complete games and has recorded 60 strikeouts.
Sophomore Brandon Haczynski (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and junior Hunter Thorn (Portage, Ind./Portage) were both named to the Honorable Mention team.
Haczynski went 5-2 this season owning a 3.67 ERA, in his 54 innings of work, the sophomore threw three complete games and tossed 36 strikeouts. Earlier this season Haczynski was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for his performance on the mound against Northwood on March 25.
Thorn has been driving in runs and helping PNW in critical spots. The junior catcher has a .349 batting average, 51 total hits with nine of those being doubles and two over the fence, while also driving in 29 runs and having 28 runs scored which both lead the team.
PNW starts the GLIAC Tournament Thursday, May 9 as the Pride take on Wayne State starting at 9:30 a.m. CT.
