FROSTPROOF, Fla.—Three Fire athletes clinched trips to NAIA Indoor Nationals with their performances at the Webber International Warrior Alumni Meet at Frostproof High School.
On the women’s side, Namiah Simpson won the Women’s 400 Meters in a time of 57 seconds to hit the NAIA “A” Standard, and post the sixth-fastest time in the NAIA in the event this season. Also in the 400, Courtney Gales qualified with a “B” Standard time of 58.04.
Trey Alford hit the “A” Standard in the Men’s 200 Meters in a time of 21.59, which is the eighth-fastest time in the event in the NAIA this season.
In the shot put, Kyle Manuel hit the “B” Standard with a top toss of 15.19 meters to win the event.
Davonte Vanterpool, who has been qualified with an “A” Standard time, shaved another tenth off his time, posting an 8.16 to move back to eighth nationally.
The Fire will have one more opportunity to hit standards next weekend at the University of South Carolina Invitaitonal.
