SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana University South Bend head women’s basketball coach Steve Bruce is excited to announced the signing of Katie Gard from Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek Wisconsin.

Gard joins Taylor Klenner, Maddy Schumacher, and her sister Maddie Gard in this year’s recruiting class.

Katie helped lead the Knights to four straight conference championships, winning 98 straight conference games and a 2019 State Regional Championship. The co-captain was tabbed Southeast Conference Player of the Year, All-Area honorable mention, All-State honorable mention, and a Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Star.

“I chose the University of Indiana South Bend because I know I will be surrounded by great coaches, a great team and amazing faculty,” said Gard.  “It already feels like home to me.  Thank you Coach Bruce for thinking so highly of me, I can’t wait to see how far I can go with the game I love!”

“Katie is a high achiever, academically and athletically,” said Bruce. “She is the type of high character person that we want representing our program. She comes from a great high school program and I’m excited for her career.”
