Goshen High School and Edward Jones are proud to announce the student-athlete of the month award to recognize athletic and academic excellence.  A senior male and female student-athlete will be selected from August-May each school year.  At the end of the year, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete of the month, as selected by the GHS coaching staff.

The winners of the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for September are Aniya Hartler and Drew Marlow.

Aniya is the daughter of Anika Wedel and Jon Hartzler. Aniya is a senior captain on the GHS girls’ soccer team.  Aniya is leading the GHS girls’ soccer team with 10 goals and 3 assists this season despite missing four games due to being injured this Fall. She is one of top midfielders in the area.  In her sophomore and junior seasons of soccer, Aniya was named outstanding midfielder and NLC All-Conference. Her junior year she was also on the All-District 2nd team.  Aniya has been named a Kiwanis Scholar Athlete for her hard work in and out of the classroom during her high school career.  She is also on the High Honor Roll and is part of NHS, Student Athletic Council, and a Stay-in-Bounds ambassador.  After high school, Aniya plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and play soccer.

Drew is the son of Millisa Harper and Jimmy Marlow. Drew Marlow is a two-year starter at outside linebacker on defense.  He is on multiple special teams and also sees some time on offense.  Drew was selected by his teammates as a captain for this season.  Drew is a leader on and off the field.  Drew is continuously looking out for his younger teammates who have transportation issues and many times has volunteered to go pick a teammate up when he knew the teammate was too timid to ask for a ride.  After 6 games, Drew leads the team in tackles with 39, and 11 tackles for loss.  He is constantly helping his teammates on defense check to the appropriate defense and plays the game the way it’s supposed to be played. Throughout his high school career, Drew has been named a Kiwanis Scholar Athlete. Drew is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and is a PACT mentor.  Drew is currently undecided on his choice of college, but would like to become an electrician someday.
