Goshen’s Edward Jones Student Athlete of the Month – January 2018

Goshen High School and Edward Jones are proud to announce the student-athlete of the month award to recognize athletic and academic excellence. A senior male and female student-athlete will be selected from August-May each school year. At the end of the year, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete of the month, as selected by the GHS coaching staff.
The winners of the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for January are Brooke Bechtel and Will Line.
Brooke is the daughter of Brian and Carrie Bechtel. Brooke had 19 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and five assists for the month of January. Against Mishawaka Brooke played a big part in the Lady RedHawks win scoring eight points in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks come from behind victory. Brooke received the JV award in basketball her freshman year as well as the Red Blaze Award her junior year. Brooke also was named a Kiwanis Scholar Athlete during her entire high school career. Outside of basketball, Brooke participates in volleyball, PACT, Stay in Bounds Ambassadors, and 4-H. After high school, Brooke plans to attend the University of Indianapolis to study Public health with a concentration in fitness and wellness.
Will is the son of Todd and Lori Line. In the seven games played in January, Will scored 113 points (16.1 ppg) and dished out 34 assists (4.9 apg). He shot 40-80 from the field (50%) and 23-31 from the free throw line (74.2%). For the 2016-17 basketball season, Will was voted MVP, received the assist award and was named NLC All-Conference. Throughout his high school career, Will also received the Kiwanis Scholar Athlete award. Outside of basketball, Will participates in the Stay in Bounds Ambassador program. After high school, Will plans to attend college and major in sports marketing.
