Great Lakes Valley Conference Football Players of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Quincy University senior running back Chris Harris, McKendree University senior defensive end Tobias Cook, and University of Indianapolis senior kicker Brad Schickel have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chris Harris, Quincy
Sr., RB, Springfield, Illinois

Team Result: 50-21 home win vs. Alderson Broaddus

Rushed 18 times for 155 yards and three touchdowns

Averaged 8.6 yards per carry

Longest run of the day was 55 yards for a touchdowns

Moved into fifth all-time in GLVC rushing (2,178 yards)

Earns his second Offensive Player of the Week award (10/13/14)

Last Quincy Offensive Player of the Week:  Eric Poindexter (10/10/16)

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tobias Cook, McKendree
Sr., DE, Chicago, Illinois

Team Result: 50-0 home win vs. Kentucky State

Registered six tackles, including three solo stops

Posted a sack for a six-yard loss, one of six sacks by McKendree in the win

Intercepted a Thorobred pass just before halftime and raced 47 yards for a touchdown to cap a 29-point second quarter

Led team to its first shutout since the 2015 campaign

Earns his first Defensive Player of the Week award

Went 4-for-4 on PAT attempts

Dropped three of his four punts inside the opponent’s six-yard line

Leads the GLVC in punting average at 41.5 yards per punt

Earns his second Special Teams Player of the Week award (10/12/15)
