Hardy Leads Taylor to Shutout of Marian on Senior Night
UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor senior, Sam Hardy, notched the game-winner in the seventh minute to propel TU to a 2-0 victory on Senior Night over league foe Marian inside Turner Stadium on Saturday night.
Hardy dribbled himself open at the top of the box and ripped the ball into the upper right-hand corner of the net to give Taylor an early 1-0 lead over the Knights (4-8, 1-4 CL) after just 6:52 of game action.
The Trojan defense held firm through the end of the first half, posting an 8-2 edge over MU in shots to preserve the 1-0 lead after 45 minutes.
Taylor completed the shutout in the second half with a 7-2 shot advantage, giving the Purple and Gold a 15-4 margin for the entire contest.
In the 69th minute, Zoltan Suranyi spun past one Marian defender, before blasting a shot past three others from 15 yards out to tack on the insurance goal for TU.
TU keeper, Drew Sezonov, grabbed two saves on the evening in the net for the Trojans to record his third shutout of the season.
Taylor (5-5-2, 1-4 CL) will be back in action on Wednesday at Goshen (10-3-1, 3-1-1 CL) at 7:00 pm, looking for a second-consecutive league win.
