WACO, TEXAS—Southeastern University was represented by a pair of seniors of the AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-America Second Team, released earlier today.
Offensive lineman Jordan Heldreth and defensive lineman Mike Mitchell were both named to the team of 28 NAIA players.
Heldreth was a four-year starter and three-time All-Conference honoree during his time with the Fire. This season, he started games at both center and tackle helping clear the way for the SEU run game to average 204.4 yards per game, and 403.2 total yards per game.
Mitchell totaled 17.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in 10 games, ranking eighth nationally in TFL per game and 11th in sacks per game. He tied for second on the roster in total tackles with 63 from his defensive end spot.
Heldreth and Mitchell represented the only two players from the Mid-South Conference’s Sun Division recognized. They join 2017 First-Team honoree LaQuvionte Gonzalez as the AFCA NAIA All-Americans in program history.
The Fire finished the season 7-3 and were ranked 21st in the final NAIA Coaches’ Top 25.
