First Quarter
The Holy Cross College women’s basketball team faced a tough opening quarter against the Governors State Jaguars, falling behind 11-26. Grace Adams (Elkhart, IN / Penn HS) led the way for the Saints with 4 points and 5 rebounds, including 3 on the offensive glass, giving her team extra possessions. Jordyn Smith (Granger, IN / Penn HS) and Allie Caldwell (Zionsville, IN / Zionzville HS) each added 2 points, making the most of their limited opportunities.
Second Quarter
The Holy Cross College women’s basketball team showed improvement in the second quarter but still entered halftime trailing the Governors State Jaguars, 28-42. Jordyn Smith led the Saints offensively, adding 6 points to her tally while remaining efficient from the field. Grace Adams matched Smith with 6 points of her own, along with 3 rebounds to bolster the Saints’ presence in the paint. Allie Caldwell contributed a three-pointer and grabbed 3 rebounds, helping the Saints keep the game within reach. Kayliana Hammel added 2 points and 2 rebounds for the Saints. The Holy Cross College women’s basketball team struggled in the third quarter, adding just 15 points to their total as they fell further behind the Governors State Jaguars. Jordyn Smith remained active, contributing 3 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds in the quarter, continuing to lead the team. Brooke Lindesmith (Crown Point, IN / Crown Point HS) sank 4 points, including 2 free throws, to keep the Saints’ offense moving. Kayliana Hammel (New Haven, IN / Bishop Dwenger HS) contributed 3 points and 1 rebound, but the team struggled to break through the Jaguars’ defense. Despite a strong effort from several players, the Saints struggled offensively, managing only 19 points in the final 10 minutes. Jordyn Smith was a standout, finishing with 4 points, including 4-of-6 from the free-throw line, along with 2 assists. Grace Adams contributed 6 points and 2 rebounds, continuing her consistent play throughout the game. Allie Caldwell added 3 points and 2 rebounds, showing resilience in the face of the Jaguars’ defense. Despite some solid individual performances, the Saints could not match the Jaguars’ offensive dominance in the final period.
