Joliet, IL. The Holy Cross College men’s basketball team faced the University of Saint Francis on the road this evening. The Saints defeated USF 76-57. With the win, men’s basketball improves 17-11 overall, and 11-7 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Holy Cross jumped out to an early 10-3 lead. Midway through the first half, the Saints would extend their lead to 31-12, after a Storm Cook made three pointer. Travon Bracket ended the half with a layup inside, as Holy Cross would take a 51-26 lead entering halftime. Storm Cook scored 15 point in the first half, while Travon Brackett had 14 points and Ja’Mare Washington added ten points.

Halfway through the second half USF would try and make a comeback, cutting the lead to 58-43, but a Jordan Gaines‘ alley-oop slam from Robby Jimenezwould stop the run. The Saint’ defense was too much for USF, as Holy Cross would cruise to a 76-57 victory.

The Saints had four players score double-digits, led by senior Travon Brackett who finished with 20 points on 9/12 shooting from the field. Robby Jimenez added 17 points, and Storm Cook recorded 15 points. Ja’Mare Washington 14 points and pulled in a team-high nine rebounds. Men’s basketball shot 54% from the field and 44% from behind the arc. The Saints limited USF to shooting 44% from the field and 25% from three.

Men’s Basketball will be back in action for senior night, when they face Trinity International University this Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7:30.
