Notre Dame, IN. The Holy Cross College hosted St. Ambrose University this afternoon in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. The Saints fell to the Fighting Bees 72-62. With the loss, women’s basketball stands at 10-10 overall and 4-6 in the CCAC.

The Saints came out flat, allowing the visiting Bees to go up 12-4 to start the contest. Holy Cross battled back to trail 22-15 at the end of the first quarter.

Holy Cross struggled to score in the second quarter, as Saint Ambrose was able to extend their lead to 37-23 going into halftime. Tagin Schultheis recorded 12 points in the first half and Keysha Streater added five rebounds and four assists.

The Saints found their shooting in the second half and after a Streater layup, late in the third quarter, would pull within six, 50-44. The Bees would come on in the fourth quarter with some momentum and would extend their lead, but a Jessica Norris three would bring the Saints back within eight points. Holy Cross would make a run late in the game, with another layup by Streater and a three pointer from Alex Forster, but they were unable to overcome the deficit and fell 72-62.

Senior Tagin Schultheis had a team-high 21 points. Keysha Streater provided a great all-around performance scoring 13 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out a team-high five assists. Junior Jessica Norris recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Saints shot 32% from the field and 28% from behind the arc.

Women’s basketball will be back in CCAC action when they travel to Governors State University next Wednesday in a 6:00pm tipoff.
