Holy Cross WBB outlast CCSJ 84-62

Whiting, IN. The Holy Cross women’s basketball team wrapped up their 2017-2018 season on the road on Saturday afternoon with an 84-62 win over the Crimson Wave of Calumet St. Joseph. The win wraps up the regular season sweep over the Crimson Wave with the first win, a 77-55 decision, back on December 16.

Eryn Leek would give the Saints their first points of the game, with a deep three. Midway through the first quarter, Holy Cross held a 13-6 lead, but CCSJ battle back to a one-point game with three minutes left. The Saints ended the first with a run of their and end the first ten minutes of action up 26-19.

Holy Cross would build on their lead to start the second quarter after a pair of free throws by Keysha Streater. Eryn Leek and Alex Forster would hit back-to-back threes late in the half to give the Saints a 40-27 lead entering halftime. Eryn Leek scored 15 points in the half, and Keysha Streater added 13 points.

The Saints continued their strong shooting from the field and were too much for the Crimson Wave, as they would cruise to an 84-62 victory. Eryn Leek recorded 15 points in the second half, while Tagin Shultheis and Keysha Streater each added 10 points.

Senior Eryn Leek had a career night scoring 30 points on shooting 10/12 from behind the arc. Keysha Streater added 23 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Tagin Schultheis scored 12 points and dished out a team-best eight assists. Holy Cross shot 44% from the field and 41% from behind the arc.

Holy Cross College women’s basketball finishes their 2017-2018 season with a 13-17 record, and 7-13 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
