Notre Dame, IN. The Holy Cross College women’s basketball team hosted Robert Morris University this evening in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. The Saints had three players in double-digit scoring to lead them to a 68-64 victory. With the win, women’s basketball improves to 7-5 overall, and 2-2 in CCAC play.
The Eagles would jump out to 11-19 lead after the first quarter, but the Saints would cut it to four after a Madison Tomblin made three pointer. Robert Morris would take a 34-29 lead going into halftime.
The Saints would come out shooting well in the second half, and after back to back made three points by Tagin Schultheis, would take a 39-36 lead midway through the third quarter. Entering the final quarter Holy Cross took a 53-47 lead.
The Saints built of their lead in the fourth quarter after a strong post move made by Keysha Streater, to put them up 65-58. Streater would hit free-throws down the stretch to secure the Holy Cross victory.
Tagin Schultheis paced the Saints with 23 points on 8/18 shooting from the field. Jessica Norris added 16 points and Keysha Streater contributed with 15. Holy Cross shot 38% from the field and 29% from behind the arc. The Saints defense held the Eagles to shooting 33% from the field and 10% from three.
The Saints continue their CCAC play when they host the University of Saint Francis this Saturday, Dec. 2. Tipoff set for 1:00pm.
