Huizenga Resigns as Assistant Athletic Director at Purdue Northwest

HAMMOND, Ind., & WESTVILLE, Ind. — Rob Huizenga, Purdue Northwest Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information, Marketing and Event Management, has resigned from his position to pursue other options.  Huizenga’s last day will be Friday, June 8.

“It is hard to leave Purdue Northwest Athletics after only a year, because there are so many great people who make up this department,” said Huizenga.  “However, it was the best decision for myself and my family.  I can’t thank the staff and student-athletes here enough for being so welcoming and I wish Pride Athletics nothing but the best moving forward.”

Over the last 10 months, Huizenga led the media relations, social media and marketing efforts for PNW Athletics in addition to coordinating a host of home athletics events as well as special events.  In late April, he helped the Purdue Northwest baseball team get national attention as the No. 9 top play on ESPN through SportCenter’s Top Plays.

“Rob will be missed at Purdue Northwest, but we wish him the best as he moves on with his career,” said Rick Costello, PNW Director of Athletics.  “He did a great job leading our Sports Information, Marketing and Event Management office this last year and we are thankful for all his hard work and efforts.”
