Indiana, Penn State and Rutgers Earn Weekly Baseball Honors

Hoosiers’ Barr named Player of the Week; Nittany Lions’ Harry earns Freshman of the Week; Scarlet Knights’ Teller voted Pitcher of the Week

 

Player of the Week

Cole Barr, Indiana

3B – Jr. – Yorktown, Ind. – Yorktown

  • Hit .600 (6-of-10) with five RBI and six runs scored to lead the Hoosiers to a 2-1 weekend against Iowa for their fourth straight series win
  • Finished with a 1.400 slugging percentage and .643 on-base percentage on the weekend
  • Hit a home run in each of Indiana’s two wins over the Hawkeyes, while totaling five RBI on six hits. Has now hit a team-high six home runs on the season and has registered 25 home runs in his career
  • The 2019 second-team All-Big Ten honoree wins his first career Big Ten Player of the Week award
  • Last Indiana Big Ten Player of the Week: Elijah Dunham (Feb. 24, 2020)

 

Pitcher of the Week

Brent Teller, Rutgers

P – Gr. – Miami, Fla. – Miami Palmetto Senior

  • Pitched seven shutout innings and tied a season-high with eight strikeouts to help Rutgers defeat Nebraska 6-0 and complete a 3-0 series sweep.
  • Retired 10 of the Cornhuskers’ first 11 batters and allowed just six players on base during the win. Allowed just two hits and walked three batters
  • Earns his first career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor and becomes the first Rutgers pitcher to win the award since 2019

Freshman of the Week

Jay Harry, Penn State

SS – Metuchen, N.J. – Metuchen

  • Helped Penn State to a 3-0 series sweep against Michigan State last weekend
  • Registered a .500 batting average on the week with five hits, six runs, six RBI, two doubles and a home run
  • Hit his first career home run, a three-run shot, in the Nittany Lions’ 27-4 win on Saturday
  • Recorded a .571 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage
  • Wins his first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award to become the first Nittany Lion to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week since 2016
