Indiana Unanimously Claims First Place In Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll

12 Academic All-Big Ten students highlight Preseason Honors List

 

ROSEMONT, Ill.—Indiana University was unanimously selected to pace the nine conference teams in the 2018 season, announced by the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday.

 

Indiana (18-1-6, 5-0-3 Big Ten) tied for second in the 2018 season, along with making a run to the NCAA National Championship match.

 

Michigan State was voted into the second position, Maryland in third place and Michigan fourth. The top-five was rounded out by Wisconsin.

 

The preseason honors list includes the 2017 Goalkeeper of the Year in Michigan State’s Jimmy Hauge, two additional first-team selections and five All-Big Ten second-team picks.

 

The 2018 preseason honors list also includes Second Team Scholar All-American Hauge and Scholar All-North/ Central Region DeJuan Jones, both representing Michigan State. Twelve of the students on the honors list were named 2017-18 Academic All-Big Ten.

 

The season kicks off on Friday, August 24 with all nine teams in action.
