Hawkeyes’ Megan Gustafson and Terrapins’ Shakira Austin are first weekly honorees of the 2018-19 season

Player of the Week

Megan Gustafson, Iowa

F/C – Sr. – Port Wing, Wis. – South Shore

Opened the 2018-19 season with a double-double (23 points/17 rebounds), along with six assists and four blocks, as No. 13/17 Iowa defeated Oral Roberts on Nov. 9

Finished two rebounds and one assist away from her career highs in those categories

Led the Hawkeyes in points (converting 11-of-18 shots from the field), rebounds, assists and blocks in the victory

Received Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2017-18

Earns her 11th career Player of the Week award and first of the season

Collected 12 points, 21 rebounds and seven blocks in her collegiate debut on Nov. 9 vs. Coppin State — her 21 rebounds were the most by a Maryland student since Jan. 19, 2012, when Tianna Hawkins grabbed a school-record 24 rebounds vs. Wake Forest, while her seven blocks were one off the school record
