Iowa and Wisconsin Earn Weekly Women’s Basketball Awards

Hawkeyes’ Megan Gustafson and Badgers’ Imani Lewis are this week’s honorees

 

Player of the Week

Megan Gustafson, Iowa

F/C – Sr. – Port Wing, Wis. – South Shore

• Averaged 22.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game with an .800 field goal percentage last week as No. 12/14 Iowa defeated No. 25/20 West Virginia and dropped a narrow decision to Florida State at the Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas

• Posted a double-double in the win over WVU on Nov. 23, registering 28 points (12-17 FG) and 16 rebounds as the Hawkeyes set a Big Ten record by rallying from a 24-point first-half deficit to earn the victory

• Added 16 points (8-8 FG) and eight rebounds against FSU on Nov. 24, logging her second perfect shooting game of the season (conference-record 13-for-13 at Western Kentucky on Nov. 13)

• Chosen for Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2017-18

• Earns her 13th career Player of the Week award, breaking a tie with Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell for fourth-most in Big Ten history, and receives her third of the season

Big Ten Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Alex Wittinger, Sr., F, ILL: Averaged 21.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game last week, including a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds in a last-second loss to Sacramento State on Nov. 24

Kenisha Bell, Sr., G, MINN: Helped the Golden Gophers to two wins last week, registering 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game with a .565 field goal percentage

Teniya Page, Sr., G, PSU: Recorded 25.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game last week, including a season-high 34 points (her eighth career 30-point game) on Sunday against Stony Brook

 

Freshman of the Week

Imani Lewis, Wisconsin

F – Willingboro, N.J. – Life Center Academy

• Averaged 13.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game with two double-doubles last week, helping Wisconsin to three wins in four outings (including the Challenge in Music City title) and the Badgers’ best start (6-0) since 2006-07

• Had double-doubles in a one-point win vs. IUPUI on Nov. 19 (12 points/11 rebounds) and a one-point loss vs. Arkansas on Sunday at the Challenge in Music City (13 points/12 rebounds)

• Contributed 18 points and six rebounds in win over Pittsburgh on Nov. 23 to open the Challenge in Music City

• Earns her first career Freshman of the Week honor
