LIVONIA, Mich. – It was early and often Tuesday as No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball defeated Madonna University 103-58. The Wildcats lead by as much as 43 during the contest.

  • The Wildcats put up 62 points in the first half on 51% shooting. IWU shot 9-of-17 from three while shooting 18 free throws, making 13. Eight years ago, IWU scored 64 points in the second half against Wilberforce, their program best for a half. Their next biggest first half was against Siena Height on January 25, 1994 when IWU scored 58 points.

BALANCED SCORING

  • Nine different Wildcats scored in the contest with five scoring in double figures. Dayton Groningerlead the Wildcats with 25, setting a new career high for the sophomore. Margot Woughter added 19 while Elaina Ededuwa scored 16.

WHALEY PERSPECTIVE

  • I thought we had long stretches of tough, unselfish basketball tonight against a physical Madonna team.
