FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana University South Bend baseball team dropped a single non-conference game on the road by a score of 14-9 to Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Tuesday, April 6. Moving to 13-15 on the season, the Titans return to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday, April 9, hosting Olivet Nazarene at 2 p.m.

The Titans dug themselves in a hole, allowing four runs in the first two innings as the Cougars scattered three in the first and an insurance one in the second. After both teams added a run in the third, IU South Bend add six runs off two hits in the fourth to take the two-run lead, 7-5.

Senior Jack Schaffer got the inning started after drawing a walk and was brought home with a Connor Wise sacrifice bunt. Other runs for the Crimson and Cream occurred from Taj Abdur-Rahman, Wise, Colin Mack, and Jordan Moore.

St. Francis responded with three more runs occuring in the fourth, fifth and six frames while an RBI single from Nolan Unger in the top of the fifth evened things up through six at 8-8. Unger would eventually give the Titans a one-run lead in the seventh after Moore flied out in right field foul territory.

However, a Cougar six-run inning in the bottom of the eight dealt the Titans its second consecutive loss.

Leading the offense for the Titans was Unger scoring three runs on three at bats and an RBI. Unger led the team with three stolen bases while Moore and Schaffer registered two apiece.

The Titans return to CCAC play at home Friday, April 9 for a single game against Olivet Nazarene to begin the three-game series. The series will finish with a doubleheader in Bourbonnais, Ill. on Saturday, April 10.
