ELGIN, Ill.- The IU South Bend Titans (9-11, 1-1 CCAC) split their conference opening doubleheader on the road against Judson University (4-11, 0-2 CCAC) dropping game one 4-0 before winning game two 13-0 in 7 innings.

Game 1

Freshman Josh Vis got the start for the Titans on the mound in game one pitching two innings with two strikeouts while facing the minimum 6 batters.

Judson scratched across two runs in the 3rd inning off the backs of two hits and a walk before adding single runs in the 4th and 5th innings with the lead off man coming around to score in both innings.

The Titans pitching staff allowed only four hits to the Eagles in game one while shortstop Jack Ryan collected both IU South Bend hits in game one with a pair of doubles.

Game 2

After a quiet game one, the Titans offense exploded for five runs in the top of the 1st inning, a lead off single from senior Logan Smith set the tone for the rest of the line up as freshman Evan Fortson doubled down the left field line in the next at bat.

Anthony Pohl drove the first run of the inning on an RBI ground out. After a Kaleb Farnham hit-by-pitch, red hot Jack Ryan hit his third double of the day plating another run for the Titans before a Gabe Cortez RBI single plated the Titans third run of the inning. Devin Smith then hit a 2 RBI single to center field to make it five runs in the top of the 1st for IU South Bend.

Cade Van Ness got the start on the mound in game two, pitching two innings with two strikeouts.

The Titans would strike again in the 3rd inning, this time plating six runs on three hits. Jack Ryan continued his tear by starting IUSB off with a double to right center, his 4th double of the day. Logan Smith then drove in a pair with a 2 RBI single followed by a Kaleb Farnham RBI triple to score the sixth run of the inning.

Freshmen Andrew Parker entered the game on the mound in the 3rd inning, throwing five innings of two hit baseball with two strikeouts.

The Titans pushed across two more runs in the top of the 6th inning with a Donnie Necas double, a Devin Smith sacrifice fly and a Braedon Leathed RBI single to push the Titans lead to 13, ultimately taking game two of the doubleheader over Judson 13-0.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action with a four game series versus CCAC rival St. Xavier University starting with a doubleheader on Friday, March 15th, in the season home opener at Rex Weade Field with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
