TOLEDO, Ohio – The Indiana University South Bend baseball team split on Friday, March 12 against Lourdes University after winning the second game of the doubleheader.
Game One: Lourdes 15, IUSB 4
Lourdes was quick to heat up scoring five of their ten runs in the first inning compared to the Titans one after bringing Logan Young home on Scott Stetz RBI. The slow start would hinder the rest of the game for the Titans as they tried to play catch up to Lourdes offensive presence.

DeHerrera led the offensive attack going three for four behind with plate bringing in three runs. Also scoring for IU South bend was Logan Smith, Connor Wise, and Logan Young notching one run each to the board.
Toeing the rubber in the starting lineup was freshman Matt Lood before freshman counterpart Jaidyn Morris relieved him in the bottom of the first. Jackson Kruegar and Max Govert finished the game for the Crimson and Cream only giving up a total of two runs.
Game Two: IUSB 8, Lourdes 6
Titans’ second game of the afternoon possessed a different beginning scoring all eight runs in the first three innings holding Lourdes to only one. Titans last two runs were scored in the third on back-to-back home runs from freshman Jake Vanderwoude and sophomore Logan Smith.
Lourdes tried to even the score in the fifth on a three-run homer with no outs but IU South Bend only allowed one more run before finishing the inning with three straight outs. Lourdes would inch closer to the Titans scoring one run in the sixth before the IUSB walked off with their second victory of the season.
Bryson Taylor earned his first win on the mound allowing four hits. Matt Rose and Kyle Hallberg finished out the last two innings.
