McClintock Breaks Kills Record in Sweep at CCAC Crossover – Indiana University South Bend
CHICAGO – Ashley McClintock (SR/Westville, Indiana) carved her name in the record books on Saturday as she recorded 17 kills in a 3-2 victory over Roosevelt University, making her the all-time leader in kills in IU South Bend volleyball history. McClintock went into the weekend just 29 kills shy of the previous record, 1,431. With her 13th kill against Roosevelt, McClintock broke the record and now has 1,453 career kills.
Equally as important, the Titans went on to defeat Robert Morris, 3-0 to move to 10-6 overall in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
In their first match of the day, the Titans and Lakers traded sets, forcing the match to go to a decisive fifth set. IU South Bend trialed briefly in the final set, but went on a 7-1 run to take a 12-5 advantage. Sarah Allison (JR/Mishawaka, Indiana) slammed home the final kill to propel the Titans to a 3-2 win.
In the final match of the weekend, the Titans took care of business, defeating Robert Morris in straight sets. The Eagles battled in the second set but it was IU South Bend who came out on top with a 29-27 victory.
The Titans will finish up the regular season on Tuesday as they travel to Governors State University. They will then await the conference tournament seeding.
