SOUTH BEND, Ind. – An efficient night from the field helped the Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball team to an 84-58 victory over Simmons College of Kentucky on Monday night. The Titans shot nearly 52 percent from the field in the win.
It took the Titans almost three minutes to score their first point, which came off a Rashaan Jackson (JR/Warsaw, Indiana) free throw. The scoring picked up midway through the first half as Alex Harmon (SO/Wabash, Indiana) gave IU South Bend their first lead of the game with 11:26 left in the half. Harmon scored a career-high 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting for the game.
Dylan Allen (FR/Indianapolis, Indiana) hit a pair of free throws to spark a 16-2 run that gave the Titans a 28-14 lead with less than six minutes to play in the opening frame. The Falcons were able to cut the IU South Bend lead to 10 points at the break.
Myluv Sutton (JR/Fort Wayne, Indiana) gave the Titans their first 20 point lead with 11:26 to play in the game and IU South Bend started to pour it on the visiting Falcons. Trevor Jain(SO/Gatlinburg, Tennessee) scored a game-high 19 points including two impressive dunks that brought the crowd to their feet.
The Titans led by as many as 31 points in the blowout-victory.
IU South Bend moves to 2-0 on the season and will return to action on Friday as they host the University of Akron Wayne at 7:30 p.m.
