IUSB Men’s Basketball Looks to Finish Strong Down the Regular-Season Stretch

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sitting in sole possession of third in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings, Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball gears up for two contests this week. The Titans hold a 19-8 overall record, having gone 13-6 against league opponents as just three regular-season contests remain.

Head coach Scott Cooper became the first coach in program history to reach 100 career wins at the helm last week after the Titans went 2-1 overall.
IU South Bend fell at Saint Ambrose 92-75 on Monday, Feb. 3 in a makeup game that was originally slated for Jan. 18 in Davenport, Iowa before earning its eighth road victory of the season at Roosevelt on Wednesday, Feb. 5 by a score of 70-67 in overtime. Inside the Student Activities Center on Saturday, junior Dylan Allen produced a stat-stuffing performance with a season-high 18 points, seven assists and five rebounds to fuel IUSB past Judson 97-48.
IU South Bend prepares for a two-game week ahead, beginning with Titan Birthday Bash on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. as IUSB welcomes Calumet College of St. Joseph into the Student Activities Center. Fans are encouraged to show up early and be loud as IUSB celebrates 50 years of Titan basketball (including club sport). Admission, popcorn, t-shirts and cupcakes will be free to the public. Donations will be taken at the door as proceeds go towards the IUSB athletics scholarship fund.
In its final regular-season road contest Saturday, Feb. 15, IUSB treks to Milwaukee, Wisc. to face Cardinal Stritch at 4 p.m. (EST). Despite having defeated the Wolves in the last four matchups, Cardinal Stritch owns the all-time series 9-4.
As a team this season, IU South Bend ranks seventh amongst all NAIA DII opponents with 259 total steals, eighth in total scoring offense (2,309), 10th in scoring margin (12.7) and turnover margin (4.3) and its 9.6 steals per game is 11th-best in the nation. Senior Kourtlandt Martin leads the Titan offense, scoring 13.9 points per game while junior Norell Smith grabs a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
