ELGIN, Ill. – The Indiana University South Bend (12-24, 6-6 CCAC) softball team extended their winning streak to four games with a CCAC doubleheader sweep of Judson University (9-29, 1-11 CCAC) winning game one 14-7 with a big six run inning late in the game and won game two 7-0 in six innings due to weather.
Game 1 (W 14-7)
The Titans got out to an early 1-0 lead on a Reece Douglass RBI sacrifice hit, and extended their lead to 3-0 with two more runs in the third inning on a Judson error and a Jordan Watts RBI double. Judson responded with two runs in the bottom of the third inning to bring the game within one, but the Titan offense kept rolling scoring two more runs in the top of the fourth inning when Maddie Leisher hit a two run home run, her fourth of the season, to put IUSB up 5-2. Judson tied the game up in the bottom half of the inning scoring three runs on a home run and a pair of RBI singles chasing starting pitcher Savannah Hamilton out of the game. The Titans exploded for six runs to take an 11-5 lead in the top of the sixth inning behind a two RBI double from Elyse Starr, a Recce Douglass RBI single, a two RBI double from Jordan Watts, a passed ball from Judson, and a double steal that plated a run. Elyse Starr added another two RBI hit in the top of the seventh, while the Judson defense made another error allowing a third run to cross in the inning giving the Titans a 14-5 lead heading in the bottom half of the seventh. Judson scratched two runs across but it wasn’t enough as IUSB took game one 14-7. Elyse Starr led the offense going three-for-five with a double and four RBI’s. Jaylah Harlan picked up the win in relief throwing the final three innings of the game giving up two runs, zero earned, on two hits and three strikeouts.

IUSB added another run in the third inning on a Leah Dawson RBI single, and pushed three more runs across in the top of the sixth inning on another Reece Douglass two RBI double and an Abigail Yarnell RBI double.
