IUSB Volleyball adds six signees to 2022 squad

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – IU South Bend volleyball and head coach Alison Derdzinski announced the signing of six newcomers set to join the Titans for the upcoming 2022 campaign.
Abby Weber
Madison HS – Adrian, Mich.
Weber was a four-year All-Tri-County Conference selection at Madison HS and was named to the all-county team while with the Trojans. As a sophomore, Weber was part of the district championship team, and was also a four-year member of the track team, where she was a two-time state finalist as part of the 4x200m and 4x400m relays.
Maddy Figg
Plymouth HS – Plymouth, Ind.
Figg played four years of varsity volleyball for the Pilgrims and was a three-time All-Northern Lakes Conference selection beginning with her sophomore season. While at Plymouth, Figg was also the recipient of the team’s coach award and most improved award.
Ellie Michiaels
New Prairie HS – Rolling Prairie, Ind.
Michiaels earned honorable mention All-Northern Indiana Conference as a junior and senior while registering over 500 kills in 2021. The four-year varsity letterwinner helped lead the Cougars to four consecutive IHSAA sectional titles, and three straight regional trophies from 2018-2020.
Olivia Goze
LaVille HS – South Bend, Ind.
Goze was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner for LaVille HS, where she earned All-Hoosier North Athletic Conference honors as a junior and senior. In 2020, Goze was named to the IHSVCA Junior All-Star Team, and played three positions as a Lancer, at right side, middle, and outside hitter. Goze also lettered four years in track & field and was a two-time HNAC champion in the long jump and 4x100m relay, and was a career five-time IHSAA regional qualifier.
Emma Knowlton
Washington HS – North Liberty, Ind.
Knowlton was a three-year setter for Washington HS and was a two-time honorable mention selection for the All-Northern Indiana Conference Team. Knowlton was also named the Panthers’ team MVP during her time within the program.
Sydney Hanna
Penn HS – Granger, Ind.
Hanna played two seasons as a defensive specialist for Penn HS and was named an All-Northern Indiana Conference Team honorable mention. While with the Kingsmen, Hanna helped lead her team to an IHSAA semi-state appearance as a senior in 2021.
