ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana University South Bend volleyball team swept a pair of matches in Adrian, Mich. on Saturday evening to conclude its five-match weekend, defeating Goshen College (3-0) and coming from behind to beat host school Siena Heights (3-2). Following the day, the Titans improve to 3-5 overall.

For the first time during the 2019 season, the IU South Bend volleyball team swept its opponent by a score of 3-0 after defeating Goshen College. It was all Titans as they toppled the Maple Leafs in three-straight sets, 25-13, 25-11, 25-19 on a neutral court.
The Titans were led by Jacksonville transfer Hannah Marchand as the junior recorded a game-high 14 kills. Both Madison Burger and McKenzie Powell recorded 11 digs while Powell added a team-high 32 assists. Senior Robbie Berg nearly recorded a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs.
As a team, IUSB attacked at an impressive .262 percentage while holding its opponent to a .032 percentage rate. The Titans served up nine aces while holding the 7-4 block advantage.
In an exciting game two of the night, the Titans came from behind to defeat host school Siena Heights in the fifth set after falling in set one. As both teams traded set wins, the fifth and final set came down to IUSB hitting at a .159 rate while holding its opponent to just a .086 attacking percentage.
Sealing it’s second consecutive victory, IUSB defeated SHU by a score of 3-2 (18-25, 25-21,18-25, 25-18, 15-11). Marchand led all players with a season-high and game-high 19 kills as the junior attacked at a .318 rate. Powell added a team-high 40 assists while Samantha Hockstra got the job done on defense, collecting a game-high 26 digs.
South Bend is back in action Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Robert Morris before heading to Governors State on Thursday, Sept. 12. Both Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches are slated for an 8:00 p.m. (EST) start. The Titans return home on Saturday, Sept. 14, playing host to CCAC foe IU Northwest at 3:00 p.m. inside the SAC. ​
