IU South Bend earned its highest seeding in the conference tournament with a 13-4 league record highlighted by convincing victories over No. 1 Trinity Christian (3-0) and No. 3 Olivet Nazarene (3-1) during the regular-season.
SXU enters the tournament as the seven seed with an overall record of 12-21 and 9-9 CCAC record after defeating Robert Morris (3-0) and Governors State (3-1) to conclude the regular-season.
The quarterfinal showdown will serve as the tenth all-time meeting between the Titans and the Cougars. IUSB trails in the series, 4-5, but won the most recent meeting this season. IUSB swept SXU in Chicago in this year’s regular season meeting on Oct. 15. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Titans, propelling the Crimson & Cream on an eight-game winning streak.
IU South Bend will make its fourth straight CCAC Tournament appearance, and its sixth since the 2013 season. The Titans made it to the league semifinal last season, defeating Olivet Nazarene 3-1 in the quarters before falling to Trinity Christian 3-0 in Palos Heights.
The winner of Tuesday’s match will advance to the CCAC Tournament semifinal against the winner of the No. 6 IU Northwest/No. 3 Olivet Nazarene quarterfinal.
The semis will take place Thursday, Nov. 14 and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed. For more information on the CCAC Tournament.
