SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The 2017-18 Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Titans hosted Judson University at the Student Activities Center. Senior Jess Alexander (SR/Granger, Indiana) had a big day as she netted a season-high 17 points but it wouldn’t be enough as the Titans fell 74-65 to end the season with a 16-14 overall record and a 7-13 mark in conference action.
IU South Bend fell behind early but managed to go ahead by two points on a Sarah Rogian (SR/Boggstown, Indiana) put back towards the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Titans used an 11-2 run to go up by nine points with 4:25 left to play in the frame. The Eagles were able to trim the IU South Bend lead to three points before the intermission.
Kyleigh Kubik (SO/LaPorte, Indiana) gave the Titans their largest lead of the game in the third quarter when she drained a three. Kubik finished with a team-high 18 points. Alexander gave the Titans another 11-point lead a few possessions later with 7:11 left in the third. A 14-2 Judson run over the final seven minutes of the quarter put the Eagles in front with 10 minutes left to play.
The final quarter belonged to the Eagles as they built a lead as large as 11 points.
Senior Paige Avery (SR/Mishawaka, Indiana) notched a double-double in the final game of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sarah Rogian added four points and four rebounds in her career finale.
