Chicago, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball team started off their conference season with a win on Wednesday day. The win brought the teams overall record to 4-3, leaving them 1-0 CCAC action. The Titans took down the Eagles of Robert Morris University 80-76.

The Titans had four players score in double digits, three of them finishing with double-doubles. Courtney Haynes (SO/Marion, Indiana) led the team with 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Kylie Fehrman (SO/Griffith, Indiana) added 15 points for the Titans. Taylor Wesley (JR/South Bend, Indiana) tallied 14 points, while snagging 13 rebounds on the night. Taitlyn Trenshaw (SO/Nappanee, Indiana) presence was felt on both ends of the floor as she added 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The game began as a back and forth battle between the two teams, before IUSB took the lead on a Taylor Wesley layup with 5:43 remaining in the first quarter. It would be all IUSB throughout the remaining minutes in the first quarter, and the entirety of the second quarter. The Titans would lead by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, before heading to halftime with an 11 point lead, 47-36.

The second half would prove much closer as Robert Morris came out of the locker room scoring 20 points to IUSB’s 11 in the third quarter. The Titans would maintain their lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play as Haynes hit a layup to take the lead at the buzzer, the Titans leading by 2 points. In the final quarter the Titans would lead the Eagles, until a RMU three pointer was good with 3:56 remaining to make it a tie ball game. However, eight made free throws and a made jumper by Haynes in the final 3:25 would solidify the win for the Titans.

The Titans will be back in action on Saturday, November 17th as they head to Deerfield, Ill. to take on Trinity International University. Tip off is set for 2:00 PM ET.
