SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After dropping its first contest of the 2019-20 campaign last Saturday, Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball looks to bounce back this week at Judson University on Wednesday, Nov. 20 before hosting the Jaguars of Governors State on Saturday, Nov. 23 inside the Student Activities Center at 1 p.m.

Off to its best start under head coach Steve Bruce and arguably one of its best starts in program history, the Titans enter the week with a 7-1 overall record and a 1-1 league record after splitting a pair of contests last week.
The Titans defeated Holy Cross on Wednesday, Nov. 13 by a score of 52-46 in their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener before taking No. 24 Olivet Nazarene to the wire but couldn’t quite pull off the upset against “TigerBall” falling 95-92 on Saturday, Nov. 16 in South Bend.
As a team this season, IU South Bend ranks fourth in Division II with its 40.6 three-point field goal percentage, ninth in field goal percentage (47.3) and 13th in scoring offense through eight games with 596.
Junior guard Taitlyn Trenshaw has proven herself as the distributor on the team, dishing out 36 totals assists which ranks ninth in the country. Senior Kyleigh Kubik ranks 17th in the nation for 19 three-pointers made this season. Kubik leads the team with 10.5 points per game while sophomore Rachael Robards follows behind with 10.1 points.
The Titans hold the advantage in total steals over their opponents and are led by 15 coming from Trenshaw. Freshman Maddie Gard (14), Kubik (13) and Robards (12) are also playing a big part of IUSB’s 94 total steals. Defensively, Courtney Haynes leads the Crimson & Cream as the junior averages 5.9 rebounds per game.
Wednesday’s matchup will be the 16th meeting between the Eagles and Titans. IUSB holds a 10-5 advantage but has dropped the last five contests. Last time out, the Titans fell 67-48 in Elgin, Ill. Judson enters the game this season with an overall record of 0-6 with a 0-3 CCAC record.
Saturday against Governors State (2-4, 1-1 CCAC) will be the ninth contest against the Jaguars. Last season IUSB split a pair of games, having won at home by a score of 74-60 after falling on the road 52-48.
Following the week, Indiana University South Bend travels to Palos Heights, Ill. for a midweek clash with the Trolls of Trinity Christian on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
