IUSB Women’s Hoops Preps for Two Non-Conference Battles

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – No. 24 Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball puts its five-game winning streak on the line when it hosts Saint Mary’s College Wednesday night, Dec. 11, at the Student Activities Center before making the short trip over to Bethel University on Friday, Dec. 13.

IUSB is arguably having one of its best seasons in program history with a 12-1 overall record going 6-1 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, landing the Titans at No. 24 in the recent NAIA D-II Coaches’ Poll. The ranking is the first time under head coach Steve Bruce and the first time since at least the 1999-2000 season.
The Titans welcome Saint Mary’s (4-5) on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. before hitting the road for the first time in the month of December to face Bethel (5-6) on Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
Wednesday’s midweek battle will be the fifth meeting all-time between the Belles and the Titans. IUSB is a perfect 4-0 against Saint Mary’s, winning the last matchup back on Dec. 17, 2018 on the road by a score of 74-48.
Friday’s non-conference matchup at Bethel will be the 12th overall meeting as IUSB trails 5-6 in the head-to-head series having lost the last contests on Dec. 19, 2018 in South Bend, 72-67.
Senior Kyleigh Kubik leads the Titans with 11.2 points per game this season and ranks 23rd in the conference in points per game. Junior Taitlyn Trenshaw is fourth in the CCAC with 4.39 assists per game and has dished out 57 assists through 13 games. Junior forward Courtney Haynes is top on the team with 66 total rebounds and is tied for 29th in the CCAC with 5.08 per game while Trenshaw’s 1.85 steals per game is 11th-best in the league.
