CHICAGO, Ill. – Following her performance against the third-ranked team in the nation, IU South Bend senior middle hitter Julie Brown was recognized by the CCAC as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Brown earned her first career CCAC Player of the Week honor after averaging 1.5 total blocks per set in her two match appearances on Saturday. The senior registered seven blocks, including four solo blocks in the four-set win over hosts Lincoln (Ill.). In the matchup later that afternoon with No. 3 Missouri Baptist, Brown recorded five blocks as the Titans (15-4, 12-0 CCAC) pushed the Spartans to four sets before falling 3-1.
Offensively, Brown put in a solid performance as well, collecting a combined 20 kills over both matches. On the season, Brown ranks 7th in the NAIA and tops in the CCAC with a .385 hitting percentage.
Brown, and the rest of the Titans look to keep their perfect conference record intact later tonight, when they travel to Calumet. First serve with the Crimson Wave is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
