Baseball Wins Opening Game of DH at Spring Arbor
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana Wesleyan University baseball wrapped up their season series with Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Tuesday in Spring Arbor, Michigan. IWU won the opener 5-3 behind a solid pitching effort from Jon Young and Tanner Killian while Spring Arbor won the nightcap 17-6. Indiana Wesleyan stays on the road with a single game on Wednesday at Saint Francis (Ind.).
GAME 1 – Indiana Wesleyan def. Spring Arbor. 5-3
Indiana Wesleyan scored single runs in five straight innings from the second through the sixth inning.
Jon Young moves to 5-2 on the season as he pitched 5.0 innings for the win. He allowed three runs and struck out seven Cougars. Tanner Killian earned his second save of the season with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.
The Wildcats produced 18 runners on base in the seven-inning contest. IWU pounded out eight hits but took advantage of seven walks and three hit by pitch.
GAME 2 – Spring Arbor def. Indiana Wesleyan, 17-6
Spring Arbor scored in five of the six innings that they came to bat. SAU pounded out 15 hits with four extra base hits.
Indiana Wesleyan had eight hits in the game from eight different players. Parker Johnson, Ethan English, and Steven Busby all had two RBIs.
