Baseball’s Late Rally Falls Short at Saint Francis
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University baseball brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning but Saint Francis (Ind.) induced a fly out to end the game. Saint Francis earned the 7-3 win in Fort Wayne, Indiana from a game that was postpone last week due to weather conditions.
NINTH INNING RALLY
Trailing by four in the final inning, IWU loaded the bases after the first two batters were retired. Brady West was the tying run at the plate but he flew out to left field to end the game.
KEY INNING
The big inning for Saint Francis came in the third when the Cougars plated five runs for a 5-1 lead. USF scored the five runs on two hits, five walks, one hit by pitch, and one error.
TRIPLE THE FUN
Tye Thixton produced another three-hit effort on Wednesday as he finished 3-for-5 with one RBI. It is the third three-hit game this season for the freshman outfielder.
NEXT FOR THE WILDCATS
Indiana Wesleyan hosts Goshen (Ind.) this weekend at Wildcat Field. The teams play a single 9-inning game on Friday at 4 p.m. and play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
