MARION, IN. – The Indiana Wesleyan men’s soccer defense shined Saturday netting both goals in a 2-1 victory over Marian University. After a scoreless first half, the Knights found the back of the net nine minutes into the second half. The center-back duo of Douglas Oliveira and Ciro Castro would take things into their own hands first tying the match in the 58th minute off Olivera’s goal. Castro would net the game-winner 12 minutes later giving IWU their second Crossroads League win of the season.
SANFORD PERSPECTIVE
- Today was a good team performance. Guys have been challenged individually with things and they stepped up well. Ciro and Douglas are brilliant. We’ve struggled not having them both healthy all season and that’s had a domino effect positionally. But today you could see how solid we can be with those two in the back. Proud of our grit and desire to find the goals and come from behind.
NEXT TIME ON THE PITCH
- The Wildcats host Taylor University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
- The match will take place at Oak Hill High School in Converse, Indiana
- IWU seniors will be honored before the match.
