IWU Football Dominates Lindenwood-Belleville for Third Straight Win

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University football dominated its third consecutive opponent with a 44-7 victory over visiting Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) on Saturday at Wildcat Stadium. IWU picks up the program’s first win over a Mid-States Football Association member and has now won the last three games by a combined score of 185-19.

BY LAND…

Indiana Wesleyan entered the game as the top rushing team in the NAIA. The Wildcats continued to run all over opponents with 55 rushes for 264 yards. Joshua McKenzie led the charge with 163 yards and 6.2 yards per carry. Tyrell Phelps added 97 yards and the pair each found the end zone twice.

…AND BY AIR!

Zack Blair threw for 195 yards on 18-of-23 attempts. Blair threw for a pair of touchdowns and his main target on Saturday was Brayden Smith with 10 catches and 118 yards.

OFFENSIVE LINE IN CONTROL

The Indiana Wesleyan offensive line has been quite stout this season. The line has helped the Wildcats lead the country in rushing but the line finally cracked and allowed a sack for the first time this season. They did not allow a sack for the first 14 quarters in program history.

CONTROLLING TEMPO

The Wildcats had possession of the ball for more than two-thirds of the game with 40:25 time of possession. IWU ran 78 total plays compared to just 54 for the Lynx.

CONTAINING THE LYNX

Lindenwood-Belleville was held to just one yard rushing on 10 attempts through three quarters. Larry Whitfield broke a 49 yard rush for the Lynx, but LBU still ended the afternoon with 46 yards rushing on 13 attempts.

COACH LANGS SAYS…
