MARION, Ind. – Evan and Seth Maxwell combined for 39 points and 16 rebounds on Saturday as No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan University men’s basketball cruised to an 86-58 win over visiting Goshen (Ind.). IWU has won eight straight games to improve to 11-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Crossroads League.
TAKING ADVANTAGE
Seth Maxwell got the start for the second straight game with Kyle Mangas out of the lineup. Maxwell earned his first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The 18 points is the second highest total for Maxwell and it is the first double-digit rebound effort for the 7-foot freshman.
EXTENDING THE STREAK
Indiana Wesleyan has won 19 straight games over Goshen. The last Maple Leaf win vs. the Wildcats came on November 24, 2009.
GETTING DEFENSIVE
The 58 points allowed and the 34-percent shooting for Goshen are both the second lowest outputs by an Indiana Wesleyan opponent this season. Goshen managed just 28-percent shooting in the opening half and ended the day shooting 24-of-70 from the field.
TONAGEL THOUGHTS
“I thought today was Seth Maxwell’s best performance. What I liked most was the five offensive rebounds. It shows great effort and that is what we focus on, the effort.”
NEXT UP FOR THE WILDCATS
Indiana Wesleyan travels to Fort Wayne on Tuesday for a showdown at Saint Francis (Ind.). The game is a rematch of the 2018 NAIA National Championship game won by the Wildcats. Tip is set at 7 p.m.
