IWU women outlast USF in three overtimes

FORT WAYNE, Ind – It took 54 minutes, three overtimes, and 100 points Wednesday, as Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball prevailed over Saint Francis 100-99. The game featured eight players in double figures, three with 20 or more points.

 

BEHIND THE ARC

  • Jene’e Goodwinknocked in her third three of the game, giving the Wildcats the 98-97 lead with two minutes left in the game. IWU connected on 6-of-13 from the arc while USF poured in 11-of-17. Margot Woughter made five in the contest, four of which came in the second half.

 

DOUBLE-DOUBLE

  • Senior Nicole Ignasiakpicked up her fifth double-double of the season scoring 28 while grabbing ten rebounds. Junior Elaina Ededuwa picked up her first of the season scoring 12 while grabbing 12. The Wildcats have accumulated seven double-doubles so far this season.

 

WHALEY PERSPECTIVE

  • What a battle! Both teams played their hearts out. I was proud of our resolve and togetherness every time Saint Francis made a run. It was a collective team effort against a really good team.
