IWU’s Rodgers Voted NAIA National Defender of the Week

MARION, Ind. – The NAIA national office announced on Tuesday that Indiana Wesleyan University senior libero Banner Rodgers is the NAIA Volleyball National Defender of the Week.

Rodgers averaged 6.50 digs per sets in a pair of Crossroads League victories. On Friday, Indiana Wesleyan upset No. 25 Marian (Ind.) 3-2 and followed with a 3-0 win vs. Grace (Ind.). IWU is now 14-3 this season with an 8-1 Crossroads League mark.

The Carrollton, Texas product equaled a career-high with 32 digs in the five set victory over Marian (Ind.) in addition to five assists and two aces. The next afternoon she contributed 20 digs in the three set win against Grace.

On the season, Rodgers leads the Wildcats with 3.92 digs per set as a defensive specialist and libero.

Indiana Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday at Taylor (Ind.). The IWU-TU Rivalry Match presented by Marion General Hospital begins at 7 p.m. in Upland, Indiana.
