River Forest HS Football Coach

Joe O’Connell has been accepted as the Head Football Coach at River Forest High School last night by the River Forest Board of School Trustees. O’Connell is a 1999 Lowell HS graduate. He played QB for Kirk Kennedy at Lowell. He had been the Offensive Coordinator at Merrillville HS for the last several seasons under Head Coach Brad Seiss and previous to that Zac Wells. The Athletic Director Andy Wielgus stated that “We are excited to get an educator and a coach with Joe’s extensive experience”. Coach O’Connell stated that “He is excited to be an Ingot and to work with the Student-Athletes and Staff at River Forest”.  RF Principal Dr. Ryan Pitcock stated the following: “We view Joe as one of the best young coaches in Northwest Indiana, posessing a great Offensive mind. His background and talent level will instantly bring credibility to our Football program and help our Student-Athletes reach their potential”.

O’ Connell replaces Austen Robison who coached the Ingots the last three years and resigned earlier this school year.
