COLUMBIA, Ky.—Southeastern University’s Cooper Jones and David Larson earned recognition from the Mid-South Conference for their efforts in helping the Fire defeat Georgetown Saturday night.
Jones was named the Sun Division’s Offensive Player of the Week and Larson was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Jones, a sophomore quarterback, had a career night, passing for 322 yards and four touchdowns as SEU defeated Georgetown, 54-15. The San Clemente, Calif. native helped the Fire accumulate almost 700 total yards of offense.
Larson punted just twice for an average of 45.5 yards per, and hit eight of his nine kickoffs through or into the end zone, helping the Fire win the field position battle. He is currently fourth in the NAIA in punting at 45.3 yards per punt, which is a 12 yard improvement over his numbers from last year.
This marks the fifth time in Larson’s career he’s been the conference player of the week. For Jones, it’s his first honor.
