Joseph, Chapa Break School Record; Team Averages Personal Best Saturday

CHICAGO, Ill. — Sophomore Adam Joseph (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) now owns the school record after running the 8K race in 26:01 at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, freshman Antonio Chapa (Portage, Ind./Portage) also broke his record he set earlier this season with a 26:03 on Saturday.

The previous record was set by Chapa, who ran a 26:09 at the PNW Classic back on September 7 and it was broken twice Saturday. The men’s cross country team also set a average-time team record in the 8K at 26:33.

PNW finished in 23rd place which consisted of 26 schools and 351 runners.

Junior Christopher Ramos (Hobart, Ind./River Forest) ran a personal-best 26:18 which landed him in 130th place. Freshman Michael Crook (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) was the next finisher for the Pride, running a season best 26:52 and landed him in 145th place.

Freshman Cameron Chapman (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) crossed the finishing line with a time of 27:31 good enough for 155th place to round out the Pride scoring. Freshman Diego Gomez (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) ran a 27:45 and sophomore Cristian Zendejas (Highland, Ind./Highland) rounded out the PNW runners as he ran a 27:56.

PNW returns to the course Friday, October 5, when the Pride travels for the Benedictine University Eagle Invite, race time scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m. CT.
