Plymouth– Playing one of their worst sets in the opening game the Ancilla Women’s Volleyball rallied to win a five-game shootout over Glen Oaks on Tuesday night. Ancilla fought back to win 14-25, 25-18, 18-25, 26-24 and 15-11 in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association contest at the LifePlex. .
Glen Oaks (10-7, 1-4) appeared to be on its way to claiming a victory as they took a 21-17 advantage in the fourth game, while leading two games to one. Ancilla 7-7 (2-4) closed to 22-23 and then took the lead at 24-23, causing a Glen Oaks time out. The teams traded a couple of points before Ancilla took a 26-24 win to force a fifth game.
Glen Oaks took an early lead in the fifth game and had an 8-7 advantage at the court change. Ancilla responded with a flurry of points and lead 13-10 before winning the match 15-11. Bailey Jones (Winamac) led the Lady Chargers with 30 digs and eight kills. Jones kept the ball off the floor and in play repeatedly giving Ancilla additional opportunities to score. Jaela Meister (Bourbon) led the team with 15 kills and Britney Hoffman (DeMotte) had seven. Trisha Moser (Bremen) posted 31 assists and led Ancilla with five aces.
Ancilla travels to play Muskegon in a MCCAA match-up at 6:30 on Thursday.
